Effective skincare starts with knowing your skin type, matching active natural products that are beneficial to you, and most importantly establishing your daily skincare routine.
KNOWING YOUR SKIN TYPE
Our skin types are all individual and are the result of our oil, or sebaceous activity. The degree of skin type may vary depending on many factors. It is normal to experience more than one skin type or condition at any given time depending on diet, environment, climate and lifestyle. Stress can also affect the health of your skin substantially. Factors such as emotional stress or hormone fluctuations can all lead to visible skin changes. And as we get older, our skin can also become thinner, drier and more prone to environmental damage.
It is very common to have more than one skin type or concern. Here is a quick guide to general skin type categories.
No apparent oily or dry areas skin appears balanced. It is the least problematic of all skin. The complexion is supple, healthy and clear with good circulation.
Occasional flaking of skin, no oily areas, and skin feels taut. It is more prone to develop wrinkles and fine pores and has a more pale or dull skin tone and can get irritated.
Oily generally in the central part of the face around the forehead, nose and chin. This is commonly referred to as the T-zone. There is a tendency to break out in those areas with dry and normal skin elsewhere.
Shine appears all over the skin with no dry areas; thick and coarse with enlarged pores and a tendency to break out anywhere in spots, blemishes and acne.
The signs of ageing, sun damage and fine lines, wrinkles start to become more visible.
